REPORTS TO: Office Manager
COMPENSATION: $13.00-$15.00/hr depending on experience
Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to communicate the expectations of the Bromley East Office Assistant in regards to the assigned job responsibilities; achievement of these expectations will directly contribute to the school’s successful achievement of its mission and objectives. Further, these expectations provide the basis of the employee’s performance evaluations.
High-Level Responsibilities:
The Office Assistant is expected to:
- Act as a backup to the health office (40%)
- Order office supplies and ensure work rooms are stocked with the required supplies (30%)
- Act as a backup to the front office and assist with answering phones, greeting visitors, monitoring student check-in and out, and assist with other front office operational duties (30%)
Performance Review Process:
Informal performance evaluations may occur quarterly and the final formal year-end evaluation will take place prior to June 15 or at the end of that contract period.
Expectations:
This section defines the specific objectives within each area of high-level responsibility and identifies expected dates of completion and regular reporting of progress.
- Serve as backup to the health office (40%)
- Maintain a clean and safe environment to provide health services to students
- Provide first aid to students
- Take care of sick students by assessing their symptoms and notifying parents
- Administer medications to students in accordance with District policy
- Order Office Supplies and Stock Work Rooms (30%)
- Ensure workrooms are adequately stocked with necessary office supplies
- Prepare purchase order for necessary office supplies
- Answer phones, greet visitors, monitor check-in and check-out of visitors and students, and assist with other front office operational duties (30%)
- Answer phones and greet visitors promptly and courteously
- Serve as a back up to the front office and help with answering phones and greeting visitors in a friendly manner
- Problem solve to answer parent questions thoroughly
- Check in packages and route incoming mail to appropriate person
- Check in received packages against the Purchase Order
- Route incoming mail to appropriate person
- Prepare and set up for weekly staff meetings and other special events
- Prepare the room for weekly staff meetings
- Assist with preparation of special events throughout the school year such as: parent teacher conferences, meet the teacher, professional development day, kindergarten information night, etc.
Position may also be required to perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some college classes a plus, but not required.
- Experience in working with elementary/middle school aged student, specifically in an office or health office setting preferred.
