Position Description: 7th & 8th Grade Spanish Teacher

Job Responsibilities:
- Takes responsibility for student growth and achievement.
- Evaluates, records, and reports student progress.
- Keeps attendance records.
- Confers with students, parents, and school counselors to resolve behavioral and academic problems.
- Integrates technology to enhance student learning where appropriate.
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines and state standards.
- Develops and administers both formative and summative assessments.
- Performs advisory duties, such as sponsoring student organizations or clubs, helping students select courses, and counseling students with problems.
- Maintains a culture of thinking within the classroom through a student-centered approach to teaching.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Develops unit and lesson plans through backwards design approach.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the development of assessments.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the Spanish language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
- Knowledge of arithmetic.
- Knowledge of human behavior, development, learning and motivation; facility to differentiate for different learning styles.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Colorado teaching license issued by the Colorado Department of Education
- Student teaching at the middle or secondary level for at least one semester
- Classroom experience preferred
