Position Description: In-House Substitute Teacher
School Year: 2019 - 2020 School Year
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains student learning in the classroom through building positive relationships with students and utilizing effective classroom management strategies.
- Follows substitute plans left by the classroom teacher.
- Instructs students, using various teaching methods.
- Takes responsibility for student achievement.
- Keeps attendance records.
- Administers State and building level assessments as needed.
- Participates in professional development as it applies, including training to administer State Assessments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of teaching effects;
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar;
- Knowledge of arithmetic;
- Knowledge of area of teaching and ability to communicate that knowledge;
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality; and interests; learning and motivation; different learning styles;
- Knowledge of principles for Envision Math and literacy centers preferred; and
- Knowledge of Common Core Standards.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid Colorado teaching license issued by the Colorado Department of Education or valid substitute license or teacher certification.
- At least one year of substitute teaching experience.
- Classroom experience preferred.
